Spindrift, TROPICOSO!, Madball

Tropicoso flyerSpindrift: A Rush Tribute will help you get your Rush fix Friday at House of Rock. They’ll be joined by Corpus Christi Black Sabbath cover band Eternal Idol. Doors are at 9 p.m. The central Texas trio replicates Rush, spanning all eras of the Canadian group’s career from the hits to the deep cut jams.

El Dusty presents TROPICOSO!, a monthly tropical vibes, cumbia dance party Saturday at House of Rock. Joining El Dusty are El DisqueSotomayor and J Patron. Doors are at 8 p.m. Raised and rooted in Corpus Christi, producer, DJ, and nu-cumbia pioneer El Dusty translates the Southern Texas border experience into new barrio anthems where the MPC2000 sampler and chopped clips of Latin music history collide.
It is no coincidence that many of the qualities universally agreed upon when it comes to hardcore happen to be the very same traits possessed by Madball. The veteran NYC hardcore band plays Sunday at House of Rock. They’ll be joined by Drastic Actions, Straight Forward and Black Lung Conspiracy. Doors are at 7 p.m. Present day Madball carries with it the same rage and rebellion that it always has while remaining relevant among the newer bands. Founded in 1988, Freddy Cricien took lead vocal duties in front of his brother Roger Miret’s band Agnostic Front. More than 25 years later, Madball dares to embrace the responsibility of carrying on the rich NYC hardcore tradition. Madball’s ninth album “Hardcore Lives” came out 2014.
