David Martinez, Chasca, Dia de los Beard, Buddy T y Los Chingons

Corpus Christi native David Martinez has taken his music around the country with performances as a touring artist and with extensive radio play. Martinez plays Thursday at House of Rock with his band. Doors are at 7 p.m. The alternative/acoustic rock performer is a veteran of the South Texas scene and holds a seat on the board of the Corpus Christi Songwriters.
Chasca, a Texas-born hellstorm of a band, returns to House of Rock on Friday. The San Marcos-band is equal parts glammed out alternative rock, Rocky Horror dramatics and devil-horned power chords.  The five-piece rock band released “Barbarians” as a the follow-up to their acclaimed debut EP “Bedtime for Bedlamites.” They’ll be joined by Dead Love Club, an Austin band that fuses contagious electrofunk beats with scandalous tales of tainted love, dirty lies and scantily clad rock ‘n’ roll. Doors are at 9 p.m.

Dia de los Beard, presented by CC Hairy Hooligans, celebrates beards of all shapes and sizes Saturday at House of Rock. Doors open to the public at 2 p.m., along with late registration for the contest. Competition begins at 2:30 with categories of junior beard, whiskerina, styled mustache, full beard natural under 6, full beard natural over 6, full beard natural over 12, Texas redbeard, donegal, partial beard and freestyle. Their will be an art auction and several vendors will be on hand.

Saturday night will be jumping as Buddy T y Los Chingons take the stage at House of Rock. The Americana/roots trio is lively with its originals and covers. They’ll be joined by Orange native, singer-songwriter Todd Pate. Doors are at 7 p.m.
