You can’t go wrong with any of the musical picks of CC Friday’s Draft Day on Friday at House of Rock. This week’s hip-hop all-stars are Ty Moore, Busy Bee, Jyde and Ambrose Brown. The twice-monthly traveling showcase features the best in the Corpus Christi scene. Doors are at 9 p.m.
Punk rock is alive and battling as six local bands take to the stage for The Battle For the Alamo on Saturday at House of Rock. Only two winners can emerge from competition that includes The Johnny Five, The Booked, Hasta La Tierra, Bring Out Your Dead, Drastic Actions and Spanish Reds. The top two — one will be selected by judges and the other will be selected by fans — will advance to a finals where final selections will be made toward bands that will be featured at this year’s Remember the Punks Music Fest on Oct. 1 in San Antonio. Doors are at 8 p.m.
One: The Only Tribute to Metallica brings the sights and sounds of vintage Metallica to the House of Rock stage Sunday. One: The Only Tribute to Metallica was established in 2008 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. These four horsemen focus explicitly on the audio and visual aspects of a live Metallica show complete with pyrotechnics. Their catalog consists of more than 60 songs from the band’s early garage band days up to the legendary songs of the group’s heyday. Joining them are Robstown metal band ZombieKing. Doors are at 7 p.m.
