HOR 11th Anniversary, Texas Hard Rock Takeover, Summer Breakout
This year’s anniversary party will get cranked to 11 before the night is over. San Marcos band Chasca, a Texas-born hellstorm of a band that is equal parts glammed out alternative rock, Rocky Horror dramatics and devil-horned power chords, will headline the House of Rock 11th anniversary party Thursday. Joining them are Bllue Healer, Judivan Roots, Death Mechanics, Independent Thieves and Buddy T y los Chingons. Doors are at 7 p.m. Chasca offers a “distinctive, outrageous blend of rock, glam and cabaret fabulousness that would make (Liza) Minnelli proud. Just kick up the rock ‘n’ roll theatrics and glam flair an extra notch. It’s as if Dr. Frank N. Furter possessed the show, hijacked the mothership and hightailed it back to transsexual Transylvania with light speed fueled by T Rex, New York Dolls and a dash of Queen‘s soul fire,” writes Laurie Gallardo, of Austin’s KUT. The five-piece rock band released “Barbarians,” the follow-up to their debut EP “Bedtime for Bedlamites.”
The hard rocking continues Friday at House of Rock with Texas Hard Rock Takeover. The lineup features Snake Skin Prison, Eden Burning, Anchor Babies, My Madness and Wall of Soul. Doors are at 8 p.m.
Summer Breakout will showcase some of the best of the area’s best bands Saturday at House of Rock. The all-ages show features The Oddfellas, TomCat, Bleed By Example and others Doors are at 5 p.m.
