Peelander Z, The Apostles and a Tribute to Pink Floyd
Peelander-Z and Chasca will keep the night brimming with tongue-in-cheek fun and humor on Thursday at House of Rock. Doors are at 8:30 p.m. Peelander-Z, the Japanese action comic punk band was formed in 1998 in NYC. At the group’s live shows, Peelander–Z guarantees intense audience participation and a chance to exercise. You’ll see the band in colorful costumes reminiscent of Japanese anime, though they describe their outfits as their skin. You’ll also see The Red Squid, human bowling and all-around insanity. Chasca is a Texas-born hellstorm of a band — equal parts glammed out alternative rock, Rocky Horror dramatics and devil-horned power chords. The five-piece rock band based in San Marcos kicks up the rock ‘n’ roll theatrics and glam flair an extra notch.
Any Colour You Like: A Tribute to Pink Floyd is back at House of Rock on Friday with their masterful take on the legendary English rock band. Doors are at 9 p.m. Named after the eighth track of “The Dark Side of the Moon,” Any Colour You Like pays tribute by recreating all the group’s classics with incredible attention to detail. It’s the next best thing to seeing Pink Floyd live.
Houston rock rock/alternative band The Apostles headlines a hard rock/alternative lineup with three other bands Saturday at House of Rock. They’ll be joined by Piece of Mind (Iron Maiden tribute band), Seldom (progressive/alternative rock band out of Houston) and Silent Cries: Queensryche Tribute from Corpus Christi. Doors are at 9 p.m. The Apostles were formed by three brothers and their father in Spring, Texas, in 2007. Houston’s Qu Griffin rounds out the group, joining as the lead vocalist in 2013. The group’s influences include SevenDust, Korn, GodSmack and Staind and have earned attention with their own original music with a nomination for 2013 Best rock performers from the Houston Press Music Awards
