Two Days of South Texas Burlesque Revival This Weekend!
With shows several times a year since founding in 2005 and renaming itself in 2009, After Dark Revue has been “Sassy, classy, a little dirty, but not trashy” for Corpus Christi. For the first time ever, the motto will be pushed to the max as this weekend’s inaugural South Texas Burlesque Revival stages a two-day festival Friday and Saturday at House of Rock. Since beginning as a the Texas chapter of Las Vegas’ Babes in Sin in 2005, the performers have been putting forth a level of class and sophistication while still evoking the inner vixen that’s buried deep within every woman. And it’s no different for this week’s extravagant lineup. Friday’s performers are Ruby Champagne (2010 Miss Viva Las Vegas and the 2014 Queen of San Antonio Burlesque Festival), Chola Magnolia (2015 Queen of San Antonio Burlesque Festival), Donna Denise (Named the Sweetest Lady in Burlesque at the Dallas Burlesque Festival), Penny Ruffles, Wicked Leigh Devine, Roxxy Reckless, Zenyth Gale, Lola Von Deadly, Sadie Sinn, Chanel St. Sin, Maye Applebottom and Honey Moonpie. Saturday features Missy Lisa (creator and director of Ruby Revue and creator of the Dallas and Houston Burlesque Festivals), Renee Holiday (cast member of Ruby Revue), Ruby Champagne, Penelope Mais Ouis, Man Johnson, Sherry Bomb, Miss Kitty No Pitty, Jessica Dahl, Can’Delight, Penny Ruffles and Roxxy Reckless, Pixie O’Kneel, Electra Mourning, Maye Applebottom and Lola Von Deadly, Nina Josephine, Helena Isis, Veva Vavoom and Eve Vocative. Festival hosts are Jade Esteban Estrada (Friday night) and Missy V. Haven (Saturday night). Single-day tickets are $10 for general admission standing, $25 for reserved seat (first come, first serve) and $100 for a VIP table that seats four. Purchase tickets online at www.afterdarkrevue.com or at the House of Rock. Doors open at 9 p.m., and the shows begin at 10 p.m.
