Art of Living Live Auction & Vatos Locos This Weekend
Want a great chance to grab a bite to eat, chill out and listen to some really good music on a Wednesday night? Enjoy the acoustic stylings of Scarecrow People from 6-8 p.m. at House of Rock. Beginning as a reggae band in 1991, Scarecrow People became a rock band specializing in a potent blend of “B” sides, soundtracks, 1980s, retro and more. It’s also beer Wednesday with $2.50 craft beers and half-price appetizers from 4 p.m. until close.
Artists Against Cancer and the American Cancer Society are teaming up to present the Art of Living Live Art Auction on Friday at House of Rock. Artwork from more than 30 artists — from Corpus Christi, around Texas and around the United States — have been donated and will be available. The works range from watercolors, leather goods, drawings, engravings and more. Also available are limited-edition Death to Cancer and Tougher Than Cancer T-shirts. All of proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society. Doors are at 5:30 p.m. during Friday’s Art Walk downtown. Bidding begins at 9 p.m. There is a $5 cover after 9 p.m.
A wide array of local talent takes the stage Saturday at House of Rock with Cruise Control, Skrewface, Young Murk and AC. Doors are at 9 p.m. Cruise Control, a 13-piece band offers up rock ‘n’ roll classics with a a pinch of Tejano, country, R&B and soul. They’ll be joined by Skrewface (four-piece metal, thrash band) and Young Murk (underground hip-hop).
