The Supervillains this Friday & Fred Eaglesmith this Saturday
The Supervillains are back Friday at House of Rock with their super blend of reggae, rock, punk and ska. Doors are at 7 p.m. They’ll be joined by Audic Empire, Flatbroke and Tydings. The Florida-bred swamp reggae rockers enjoys bending musical genres, partying hard, touring the world and leaving tales of joy and destruction in their wake. Audic Empire was formed in late 2010. Since then they have been turning heads in the Austin music scene with their psychedelic, reggae/rock and feel-good tunes.
Are you Fredhead? You will be after seeing Canadian singer-songwriter Fred Eaglesmith on Saturday at House of Rock. Doors are at 8 p.m. The award-winning performer is known for mixing rock with stand-up comic attitude and has had his songs recorded by Miranda Lambert, Alan Jackson, Toby Keith, Cowboy Junkies and Todd Snider. Eaglesmith, who was born in rural Ontario, began his career in the 1980s with a folky outlaw country sound and lyrics that simultaneously parodied and honored that tradition. It was before they started calling the genre alt-country. Tif Ginn opens and is a member of Eaglesmith’s band Traveling Steam Show.
